Posted by Eat Cake Today on
Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to The Cake Show 2019, where Eat Cake Today showcased popular and future creative trends of cakes and bakery arts. I get to see for myself a series of exciting creations ranging from various cake types, baking arts, chocolate and sugar artistry which mirror the latest and future trends in the confectionery world.
“Our inaugural Cake Show is the first of its kind in Malaysia that introduces Malaysians to this year’s trending cakes and what’s to come in 2020,” said Mr Ang Boon Chow, Director and CEO of Eat Cake Today.
“Eat Cake Today has always envisioned itself to be a trend-setter in the world of confectionery by carrying a wide range of unique cakes and working with young talented bakers, several of whom have won international awards in this field. This cake show is about appreciating baking art, looking at cakes that are hot favourites currently and the cake trends for the following year. And if all goes well, we are planning to do this event annually,” added Ang.
Pioneer in cake-ordering and delivery portal that offers trendy, unique and custom-made cakes, Eat Cake Today currently carrying a wide repertoire of cakes for the masses. The company also launched its premium cakes within the portal for those hankering unique and upmarket cakes during the event.
I get to watch an amazing world-class standard demonstration by three young amazing pastry chefs – Chef Chong Ko Wai, Chef Lawrence Cheong and Chef Chen May Ling at the Cake Show. Chef Chong and Chef Lawrence crafted realistic vintage table and home wares completely from chocolate, while Chef Chen created beautiful sugar flowers on a wedding cake.
A silver medal winner in the 2016 Mondial des Arts Sucres, Chef Chong Ko Wai created an artistically detailed sugar and chocolate showpiece with the theme of “Alice in the Wonderland” for his Silver Medal.
Chef Lawrence Cheong, who clinched the 4th place at the 2015 Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie 2015 in Lyon (World Pastry Cup 2015) with his chocolate showpiece along with ice cream cake. He was also awarded “Best Chocolate Showpiece” with the theme “Beauty and the Beast”.
Chef Chen May Ling was the bronze medallist in 2017 FHM Culinaire Malaysia Competition in the Artistic Showpiece category with her chocolate showpiece.
